One of the aforementioned Shatners was on The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien last night, resulting in a hilarious interview that ends with Captain Kirk shooting Conan O’Brien the bird. Then Conan climbed on top of his desk and shouted “What’s wrong with you?” at his 78-year-old guest. Has anything ever gotten so much better in so short a time as The Tonight Show since Leno left for his new job on Indiana Public Television?
Conan was mocking Shatner for being unable to get his hands into that Vulcan peace sign or Klingon war signal or whatever the hell it is. Shatner correctly insisted that was “the other guy.” Shatner has no need for stick-on ears or Romulan hand parties or whatever. Shatner commands respect wherever he goes! Except from Conan O’Brien.
