Conan Pays Tribute To Ed McMahon, Impersonates Jay Leno

Wednesday June 24, 2009 6:10 AM

The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien put together a funny tribute to Ed McMahon (read our own tribute here, with some of the McMahon-Meister’s most hilarious bits. He zinged Johnny Carson! I didn’t think anybody ever zinged Carson. Except Carson’s ex-wives. (Give it up for thirty-year-old alimony jokes!)

You know it’s killing poor Jay Leno (fresh off his job interview with a local PBS station) that he wasn’t there to preside, in a somber, high-pitched whine, over the McMahon mourning. But Coco did a great job– touching and classy. Less touching and classy is the (are we wrong to call it) mean-spirited Leno impression Conan used in a hilarious “Meet The Neighbors” segment. The Ed tribute is below– Leno impression’s after the jump.

After the jump, Conan dusts off his Leno impression (about 2 minutes in).
