Comedy.com Covers The Yellow Carpet Of The ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ Premiere

Thursday September 17, 2009 10:58 AM

If you thought Danny DeVito was kind of nutty as an actor on such shows as “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” and “Taxi,” or in his seemingly drunk talk-show and live TV appearances (no matter how DeVito tried to defend it), then just get a hold of him on Twitter. Yes. DeVito joined Twitter less than two weeks ago, and it is everything you think it would be. His cast members are only now learning this, as Comedy.com learned when we caught up with “It’s Always Sunny” star and creator Rob McElhenney and co-stars Kaitlin Olson and Charlie Day last night in New York City, where they were touring with a live stage adaptation of last season’s musical finale, “The Nightman Cometh” and celebrating the new season premiere. DeVito confirmed to us, up close and personal (He did not smell of limoncello, though he did smell funny!), that this Twitter feed is all him, baby.

Need more proof? Here is what he wrote an hour before we met: “Dinner at five. I love NY. Eat anything you like. Everywhere is great take out food. What should I eat. Backstage is wild. Holy sh*tballs!”

And this was his first post on Twitter way back on September fifth: “I just joined Twitter! I don’t really get this site or how it works. My nuts are on fire.”

Somehow, we think DeVito gets exactly how Twitter works.

The fifth season of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” debuts tonight at 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific on FX.

This post was written by Sean L. McCarthy, who follows Danny DeVito on Twitter. Obviously.
