10 Weirdest Sitcom Crossovers

Wednesday October 28, 2009 2:34 PM

Haven’t you always wondered how your favorite TV characters, ones who happen to be on the same network, would interact with each other (especially these 10 Wacky TV Neighbors and these 10 Worst Sitcom Dads)?  Sure, crossovers were a stunt pulled twice a season in the 90s, and are constantly on the Disney channel right now. But the question remains: what happens when sitcom universes collide? Lots of things, but usually not high ratings. Here are the 10 Weirdest Sitcom Crossovers.

10. “Clueless” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch
“Clueless” had a “Moesha” crossover, but that made too much sense. In the episode, “Mr. Wright” Sabrina Spellman is for some reason attending Cher, Dionne and Amber’s high school. Sabrina then snaps her fingers and disappears! We’ll never know why this had to happen.  Directed by Henry Winkler– a clue?

9. “CSI” probes “Two and Half Men”
In a time when crossovers are virtually extinct, CBS should have gone for total ridiculousness and had a five episode crossover arc, like “The Practice” on “Ally McBeal.”

8. “Golden Girls”/”Empty Nest”/”Nurses”
Not only were “Golden Girls,” “Empty Nest,” and “Nurses” created by the same producer, they aired on the same night, on the same network, AND were set in the same city! That meant crazy crossover storylines that made the whole crossover idea so popular in the 90s. Blame the girls. I’m sorry for the poor quality of video, but it was the only one with the perfect storm of “Golden Girls” (Sophia Petrillo), “Empty Nest” (Carol Weston) on “Nurses.”

7. Daffy Duck Wants a Job on “The Drew Carey Show”
It makes sense that Daffy loves Mimi, but Drew’s brother?

6. Must See TV Thursday Flirts with Itself
“Caroline in the City” on “Friends,” and vice versa, then “Friends” on “The Single Guy.” Does someone look familiar to you? Yes, that is “Mad Men’s” Duck Philips on “The Single Guy.”

5. “AbFab” Crashes “Roseanne”
Saunders and Lumley play sychophants to a rich Roseanne, then things get crazy.

4. “Mad About You” Has Much Ado About Kramer
“Seinfeld’s” Kramer did get into some crazy scrapes, but none so boring as the time he walked into the “Mad About You”-niverse. Even the laugh-track was indifferent.

3. “That’s So Suite Life of Hanna Montana”
Here’s another crazy mix ‘em up. These Disney ‘tween shows had a massive a three-way, resulting in a massive pedophile alert across the nation.

2. Steve Urkel on “Full House”
There’s no jetpack crash landing, but Uncle Jesse coolly dealing with Urkel could have been the whole episode.

1. Steve Urkel on “Step by Step”
Steve Urkel is the most well-traveled TV character of the 20th century. Though Urkel only referenced Cory Matthews of “Boy Meets World,” I think we can all be comforted that the main cohesive force in the TGIF-iverse was Urkel.
